At the presence of Dr.Mahmood Ahmadi-Nejad the President of I.R.Iran
Operation of Parand & Rood-e-Shoor Power Plants Started

An increase of more than 5000 MW in Iran's electric power generation capacity was unique achievement as a result of dedicated tasks of the authorities of the Electric Power Industry of the country.
According to our correspondent, Dr.Mahmood Ahmadi-Nejad the President of I.R.Iran , in official inauguration of the gas cycle of Parand Power Plant and the first stage of Rood-e-Shoor power plant under construction on B.O.O. Scheme, referring to the presence of the private sector in the Electric Power Industry said: Those who think that, the country should be developed by the government and governmental financial resources, should know that, the country is being developed with the capable hands of the nation.
Dr.Ahmadi-Nejad also referred to steps taken to get the permission for utilization of foreign currency facilitie and added that: The government is trying its best to support the investment by the private sector and release the work and affairs of the country to the people.
According to this report , in this ceremony, Eng.Seyyed Parviz Fatah the Minister of Energy of Iran, also referred to the support of the private sector and non-governmental investment as one of the most important objective of the Ministry of Energy in Compliance with the principle 44 of the constitutional law.
He also referred to the beginning of activity of Electric Power stock exchange in the current year and said: By commencing the activity of this market , our country will be first in the region with electric power stock exchange.
It should be mentioned that the gas cycle of Parand power plant comprises of 6 units of gas turbine each with 159 MW capacity and in total with 954 MW installed capacity. To construct these 6 units which were operated within one year, 3640 billion Rials have been invested.
The first stage of private power plant of Rood-e-Shoor is also comprised of 3 units each with 264 MW capacity and total capacity of 792 MW, completely constructed by the private sector on B.O.O Scheme. These units are the most advanced type gas turbines of the world with 38-39 percent efficiency which is the highest among the other types of gas turbines. This power plant is due to be completed in three stages and upon completion of the next two stages the total installed capacity of this power plant will adds up to 2000 MW.

The progress in negotiations between Iran and Malaysia for construction of Zanjan 3
power plant

Iran Power Development Co. has released the news on 50 percent progress in negotiation with Malakoff company of Malaysia on construction of Zanjan 3 power plant.
According to our correspondent, in this course of negotiation which has taken place in Kualalampoor, both party reviewing the draft of the agreement have dealt with the remaining issues and on moving towards final agreement made considerable progress.
According to this report, the Malakoff company has introduced two European companies, namely fishner Co. as its technical advisor and Alen & Evory Co. as its legal advisor to the Iranian side and fishner Co. is to present its technical proposal at their next course of negotiation with Iranian side.
This report also adds that, Iran Power Development Co. and SKS Company of Malaysia have agreed on construction of a power plant with 500 up to 1000 MW capacity.

The execution works of Khoramshahr private power plant has started
The Minister of Energy of Iran in the inaugural ceremony of the construction works of Khoramshahr private power plant has emphasized that, this power plant should set a new record among the thermal power plants.
According to our correspondent, in this ceremony Eng. seyyed Parviz Fatah, referring to this issue asked the investor of the project to add two units of steam turbine to the gas cycle of the power plant and change it into combined cycle power plant. The Minister of Energy of Iran hoped that, this project upon completion of its expansion plan and anticipation for new units could become the largest power plant of the country.
According to this report, the Managing Director of Iran Power Development Co. stated that, the initial design of Khoramshahr power plant is combined cycle with 8 gas turbines in its gas cycle and it is anticipated to operate the first unit of it by next year.
This report also adds that; the private power plant of Khoramshahr comprises 4 units each with 162 MW capacity and it is estimated to cost 2500 billion Rials.


The construction works of Golestan 1000 MW power plant has started

The execution works for construction of Ali-Abad Katool private power plant which is to be constructed on (B.O.O) scheme has started at the presence of the Minister of Energy of Iran.

According to our correspondent, this power plant comprises of 6 units of gas turbines each with 159 MW capacity and its construction aims to develop the electric power generation capacity at the North of the country to meet the increasing demand for electricity in Golestan region and attracting private sector towards the Electric Power Industry of Iran. The total capacity of this power plant will sum up to 954 MW.
According to this report the main fuel of this power plant would be natural gas and gas oil will be used as a substitute to the natural gas.
This report also adds that, the gas turbines of this power plant are of
V 94/2A type and will be constructed by MAPNA Co. as the investor. it should also be mentioned that, the construction works of this power plant will last 36 monthes and hundred percent of works in all stages are to be carried out by Iranian experts.


Iran will build power plant in Iraq
The SUNIR company "for Export of equipment and engineering service of water and power industries of Iran) has won the international tender for construction of a 300 MW Power Plant at Sadr City of Iraq. SUNIR won this tender while the competitors of Iranian company were from European countries and China.

According to our correspondent, the main contractor of this project is SUNIR Company and the project is to be accomplished in collaboration with MAPNA and Ameran Ofogh Engineering company within two years.
According to this report, this power plant comprises of two units each with 157 MW capacity under ISO conditions and the fuel used by this power plant is either natural gas or liquid fuel "Fuel Oil" All stages of construction and installation works of this project will be accomplished by Iranian experts and project is estimated to cost 150 Million USD.


Exchange of more than 2.5 billion kwh of electricity between Iran, Armenia and Republic of Azerbyjan
Within the year 2006, about 1.5 billion kwh of electricity has been exported to Armenia and Republic of Azerbyjan from Iran.
According to our correspondent, the Regional Electric Company of Azerbyjan of Iran which, in its geographical position, has common borders with Republic of Azerbyjan, Armenia, Turkey, Iraq and self governing Republic of Nakhjavan is considered as a high way of energy exchange between Iran and these countries.
In the last year, Iran also imported about 922 Million kwh electricity from these countries.
Taking into the account the fact that exchange of energy and transit of energy between Iran and these countries is on the basis of energy for energy, therefore, at the end of each Christian year the balance of energy exchange will be zero.
It should be mentioned that Iran transits electricity from Turkmenistan to Turkey and recently is exporting electricity to Kurdistan in Iraq.


Dr.Ahmadi-Nejad the President:
Iran will support applied research in the field of energy financially

Dr.Mahmood Ahmadi-Nejad, the president of Islamic Republic of Iran, in the opening ceremony of the Sixth National Energy congress said: "The costs of research and studies proposed by experts from scientific centers will be on the government and the government will give its financial support to all applied research in the field of energy, and there is no limitation to this financial support."
Emphasizing on the importance of energy in the lives of human societies, insisted on the applied research aiming to solve the problems faced by the society.
He also added that, the electric power generation sector of the country with 220,000 billion Rials capital has only 34 percent efficiency and if we could increase this efficiency by 10 percent, then we will save as much as twice of total budget allocated to the research in the country.
Dr.Ahmadi-Nejad estimated the cost of annual energy consumption of the country as 550 thousands billion Rials and stated that 40 percent of this amount is consumed for generation of electricity .
He also stated that, the rate of growth of consumption of natural gas and oil products is 10 percent per year.
The president also referred to the diversity of energy resources in the world and continued by stating that, there might be some sources of energy in the world which are not yet known to the human being.
He also added that, " In the field of electric power generation and transmission of generated energy which annually we have to spend a great amount of capital to develop them further, there exist a vast field of research and for sure the common existing method of electric power transmission is not the only way."
It should be mentioned that the Sixth national energy congress with New approach in optimal supply and consumption of energy has focused on the following issues as the main topics of discussions:

- Regional and international issues of energy sector.
- The outlook for development of renewable energy resources in the country
